In Episode 493, I interview some patrons and students about how recent Venus and Mars retrograde cycles have gone for them, and to illustrate a principle I discovered about how retrogrades describe the progression of a sequence of events over a long period of time.
One of my unique views on the retrogrades of Venus and Mars is that they are not only periods of retrograde motion, but also an extended stay in one or two signs of the zodiac. This long transit often coincides with the development of a sequence of events that took place over several months, often focusing on the themes of the entire sign houses occupied by the retrograde.
Now that this month’s extended retrograde periods are complete, with Venus finally breaking out of her Aries sign and Mars retrograde in Leo, I wanted to document this principle and share some real life stories. I’m joined by several students from my courses and podcast sponsors who share their experiences of how these transits have played out in their lives.
Specifically, we’ll explore three specific ways I’ve identified how retrogrades manifest:
- Retrogrades represent the progression of a long sequence of events.
- Retrogrades that cross sign boundaries and connect two sets of themes across all signs.
- When Venus and Mars are retrograde in different signs and the themes of both houses become relevant.
Through these discussions, we will see specific examples of how long retrograde periods have marked important life events, from relationship changes and career changes to health and family engagements. This episode serves as a final example to substantiate the theoretical framework I have outlined in previous predictions and provides concrete examples to help astrologers learn how to apply this concept to future retrogrades.
