Justice and the Eight of Swords
This week we enjoy the Solstice and the beginning of Cancer season. We feel the transition to summer or fall depending on our hemisphere, and both seasons set the scene for celebration, reflection, and what’s to come.
Our cards evoke the feeling of approaching a new beginning. We are approaching a horizon that is accompanied by fear and uncertainty. Although we have yet to see what our next chapter means, the cards suggest being grounded, balanced, and focused so that positivity prevails.
Our first card is Justice. This card is about examining our habits, especially our mental habits, and discovering what we can adjust to create more balance. It’s also about ensuring that our behavior reflects our values and is true to who we are.
Justice is a Major Arcana card, the eighth card in the Journey of the Fool. Lady Justice holds the balance between good and evil. He is a supreme judge. It is related to the idea of Karma, and everything we do has a positive or negative effect on our future.
He wants us all to live well, treat each other well, and stay grounded in truth. He wants our actions to be just and good. He gives us back what we put in, so he calls us to put out positivity, generosity, and love, and look to the future with opportunity, not fear.
Under the influence of this card, we think and change our behavior. We assess where there is stagnant energy, where it is not growing, and where it is not healthy. We also evaluate where we have allowed fear, pettiness, or anger. We strive to align with our values and create the future we want through our actions.
When you are clear about your values, you will see where you need to adjust to feel more balanced and at peace. Take time this week to review your habits, even your mental habits. Do they suit your heart?
Living in harmony with ourselves attracts positive energy. When our actions are focused on joy, creativity and peace, we begin to feel these qualities in ourselves and attract good things into our lives.
The Eight of Swords joins Justice this week to tell us more. This card is about perspective, boundaries and awareness.
The Eight of Swords refers to a feeling of being trapped. The swords in the card are preventing us from entering the sun-drenched valley in front of us and feeling the restorative energy of nature that it brings.
We can feel stuck in our place because of our way of thinking and our habits. We can get caught up in the negativity of the world around us. But this card reminds us that no matter how blocked we feel, we always have some control. We don’t have to give in to fear or despair.
The swords around us cannot be overcome; we can free ourselves by loosening their grip. We can change our perspective, set boundaries, or acquire skills that make us stronger.
If we give in to our fears, we become paralyzed by them. The Eight of Swords calls us to resist feelings of helplessness and to use our intelligence and strength.
We are called to embrace the fruitful creation of our minds as an act of resistance. We find within ourselves the solutions to life’s problems, and just like nature, we can find our way to more life by overcoming ourselves.
Mantra for the week: I release my fears about the future because I am made for this next chapter.
