A clear new moon: Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 4:00 PM ET
The sun Taurus at 25° | Moon At 25 ° Taurus

This new moon in Taurus is part of a stellium that includes the Moon, Sun and Mercury in Taurus, along with Uranus in Gemini. In many ways, this new moon carries symbols of fertility, growth and new beginnings.

As an earth sign, Taurus is known for its stability and love of creature comforts. Taurus can also be deeply connected to physical experiences, including taking care of the body and a penchant for material life. Supporting this grounding quality, all planets (except Pluto) are in direct motion today, allowing for flowing, progressive energy.

But what happens when stability-loving Taurus meets the electric, stimulating, transformative energy of Uranus?

This new moon may ask us to do two contradictory experiences at the same time: staying grounded in the moment while remaining open to change.

While this month may have a generally gentle or nurturing feel, there may also be a sense of uncertainty in the air. Something seems to be shifting beneath the surface, or perhaps already beginning to change.

Taurus’ closeness to the present moment

One of the high-frequency gifts Taurus offers is the ability to connect in the moment.

While this isn’t innate to every Taurus, those with a strong Taurus placement often learn to “not sweat the small stuff” – sometimes through life experience. And perhaps, in the context of today’s world, how not to sweat even the big stuff.

And it’s not about rejection. It is about regulating the nervous system.

As Uranus in Gemini affects this new moon chart, we may be asked to practice regulating our nervous system in the face of uncertainty, agitation, and change.

For some people, this may come naturally. For others, it may seem much more difficult. But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Like building muscle, it simply takes practice.

Working with the Taurus New Moon and Electric Uranus

Let’s look at a simple exercise that will help us feel these two energies.

First, it’s important to recognize that both Taurus and Uranus in Gemini have qualities that can be supportive or challenging.

Taurus can be grounded, calm, and focused on the present moment rather than looking too far into the future. But Taurus can also resist change or cling too tightly to the familiar.

Uranus in Gemini can be stimulating, innovative, and intellectually awakening. But he may feel overwhelmed, disorganized, or mentally overactive.

To do this exercise, lie on your back and close your eyes.

Start with Taurus.

Focus your attention on your present physical experience. Make sure your body is resting on the surface below you. Notice your clothes against your skin, the weight of your body, or the feeling of gravity holding you to the ground.

Allow your breath to slow down naturally. As you relax in the moment, notice what is happening in your nervous system. Stay here until you feel nourished.

Then start aligning with Uranus in Gemini.

Deepen your breath a little and offer more energy to the body. Take your awareness up to the sky above you. Allow thoughts, ideas, and actions to flow through your mind without controlling them.

Notice the vibrancy in this energy. Notice whether inspiration, insight, or uneasiness arises when you connect with it.

After exploring both energies, see which one feels more familiar or comfortable to you. Different people naturally resonate more strongly than each other.

Recognize that both energies are valuable and both are active this new moon.

Notice which energy has the most medicine for you today. Which one helps the most right now?

Finally, see if you can allow these two energies to coexist within you. The grounded presence of Taurus with the openness and movement of Uranus.

Perhaps the balance here comes not from choosing one energy over another, but from learning when each is needed.
