Dwarf planet Eris* was only discovered in 2005, but its astrological lore seems to have been with us forever. What makes her more than a female version of Pluto or an outer planet version of Lilith?

In myth, Eris is the Greek goddess of discord, but there are two Eris. The first Eris is the daughter of Nyx, who gave birth to such unpleasant diseases as Algos (pain and sorrow) and Dysnomia (lawlessness). The second Eris is the sister of the bloodthirsty Ares. Thus, the first impressions are then melancholia and sadness mixed with bloody, furious anger.
Legends of Eris
As Nyx’s daughter, Eris unleashes her brawling children when anyone swears. Eris is simply on a mission to destroy destiny. As a dark goddess, she only balances the books and preserves the natural order. This Eris is about tough love and brings rough justice. The side of Eris, sister of Ares, appears in a later legend.
Eris was not invited to the wedding, so she marked the apple “The Fairest” to the party to fight for the absurd goddesses. His anger at rejection and his need for vindication were blamed for the Trojan War. Her resemblance to Lilith was that she was the uninvited guest, the rejected and exiled, the 13th fairy who cursed the sleeping beauty. Finally, Eris, like Lilith in the Garden of Eden, caused a lot of trouble with one apple! But we need to look beyond the myths.
New 10 A planet?
Even the discovery of Eris was controversial. When Uranus was discovered, it disrupted the perfectly constructed Hellenistic version of the solar system. Uranus showed that there was another dimension… He broke the mold.
Eris was a completely different story, which was revealed when it became clear that there was a lot more out there. The solar system became unruly with new discoveries every week, so all the new bodies with Eris were sorted into boxes and classified.
As Eris was about to be awarded the status of the 10th planet, astronomers put an end to the madness and decided to demote Pluto. Ceres. Along with Eris, the group of three became known as dwarf plants. According to school books, Neptune is now the end of the line. Due to Eris, the expanding solar system has paradoxically shrunk!
Like Uranus, part of Eris’s character can be learned from its discovery story. Eris opened a big scary box of Centaurs, Plutinos, Cubevanos and TNOs. A goddess like an outer planet?! Eris was left out of the party once again. This time he also took down the mighty Pluto, but if Eris felt he had been treated unfairly or disrespected, he would take everyone with him. It exposes and dazzles hypocrisy.

Eris is the perfect whistleblower, but she has a touch of Batman’s joker. When he finally gets his revenge, he does it in style! Eris is about poetic justice, the godfather scene where the gangster wakes up in bed with the head of his favorite horse feels very Eris to me.
The similarity of Eris to Ereshkigal cannot be overlooked, Lilith was actually Ereshkigal’s handmaiden. Eris is a passionate warrior and activist, but most importantly she is a warrior princess. Think Boudicca crossed with Julian Assange… Eris is temporarily named Xenia after the popular TV warrior princess played by Lucy Lawless! It is known that the discoverer Mike Brown wanted to call it Persephone, but the asteroid has already received this name. Eris retains the characteristics of Persephone, but the Underworld / Darkness / Queen of the Night and her orbit are very appealing to Persephone.
Eris’ orbit is tilted and elliptical, where all the other planets are aligned with each other as you can see in the diagram. As Persephone divides her time equally between the earth and the underworld, she seems to spend half her time above the plane and half below. Eris is certainly eccentric, with its orbit extending beyond the Kuiper Belt but reaching Neptune. The orbital period is very slow, 557 years around the Sun.

Since then I have done a lot of research on Eris, using her in client readings and seeing her strong connection to the themes of Lilith and Persephone.
