The Moon opens on highly unstable ground dominated by a volatile Mars-Uranus conjunction that threatens sudden, unpredictable shifts and explosive twists. This chaotic energy is ruled by new stationary retrograde Mercury, which has just moved back from conjunct Jupiter. This combination sets the stage for logistical snafus, technological challenges, and widespread delays right out of the gate.
Jupiter, which entered Leo at the end of June, begins to form a sharp opposition with Pluto, which will continue until the middle of the month. It highlights major power struggles and the tension between truth and control. This opposition is part of a much larger, significant pattern of simultaneous outer planetary alignments that peak this month. When Uranus completes its first exact trine with Pluto, these planets enter a complex basket configuration with Jupiter and Neptune. This heavy planetary geometry suggests that important precursor events are taking place in the background, particularly around rapid technological or military innovation.
Finally, in the second half of the month, we will see positive changes in the astrological weather. Mars is in a stabilizing, constructive sextile with Saturn, helping to ground previous chaos. Mercury stations and directs, eliminating false connections, and the Sun triumphantly moves into Leo to form an auspicious conjunction with Jupiter. This will probably bring a much-needed radiant, visible warmth and outward wave of confidence, despite the Pluto opposition. However, the Venus-Mars square running in the background creates an unwanted element of creative friction and tension in the partnership, pitting the forces of union against the drive to separate and divide.
This late July window will ultimately serve as a temporary lull and calm before the storm. In early August, we move quickly into eclipse season, bringing important endings and beginnings to the fore, as Venus enters the shadow sign of its upcoming retrograde phase.
