In episode 400, astrologers Chris Brennan and Nick Dagan Best talk about the emergence of artificial general intelligence through the lens of astrology, discussing when and if it might happen.
Usually, every 100 episodes I hit a milestone, I do a retrospective, but this time I wanted to look forward to the future and see if we can predict where some AI trends will go in the next two decades.
In particular, we focus on the question of whether, and if so, when, researchers will succeed in developing so-called artificial general intelligence, similar to sentient human-level intelligence in machines.
Since things started picking up in December with the release of ChatGPT, I’ve been wanting to do an episode about some of the new AI trends, and so I wanted to document some of the recent developments since then at the beginning of this episode and how they align with things like Pluto entering Aquarius in March.
After that, we’ll talk about some of the broader philosophical issues being debated around AI in the world today, such as the implications of adapting AI and creating new types of sentience on Earth.
Finally, in the episode we look at some of the key future transits over the next 20 years as Pluto moves through Aquarius and try to predict when the most important turning points in this technology will occur.
This episode builds on the previous episode I did with Kent Bye in December 2021 Artificial intelligence and astrology.
