Pogo was a peaceful cat about three years ago. He started making more and more noise, especially at night and first thing in the morning. He followed me and meowed. My whole family shuddered when he caterwauled; it was very loud and painful to listen to. We shouted at him to stop; we gave him more food and ignored him, but it didn’t help. Nothing helped. When I think of poppies, I feel guilt and remorse. I wish I knew what happened to him and could help him. He wanted to tell me, but I was more annoyed and hurt than interested.
I’m writing this not to make light of my guilt or to tolerate Pogo or Poppy’s pleas for help.
However, we do the same with the people in our lives; people whose behavior threatens to marginalize us. Meowing people in our lives hurt.
If someone in your life exhibits behavior that is difficult to tolerate, could it mean that they are hurt? An undiagnosed mental or physical problem may mean they need help. Behavior is easy to notice and react to angersolving superficial problems without looking for frustration or deeper problems.
