Death and King of Pentacles
This week we welcome the month of May with a Full Moon in Scorpio. This lunar energy is powerful for new beginnings and letting go of the past. The cards serve as supportive guides, lighting our way through the energies of the moment.
For the second week in a row, we got the Death card. Death is not an end, but a beginning; it serves as a guide for the transition to the new moon under the Scorpio full moon.
Death is something we can hold on to that makes our burdens too heavy. With this card we let go of the past and start anew.
Death creates powerful changes. For some, this change can be disruptive, while for others, it can be refreshing.
Most of us are afraid of change and something new. We are afraid because we want permanence and consistency. We want to hold on to what we have, even if it’s time to let it go.
But in the Tarot, Death is a card full of beauty and deeply powerful. When it appears, we are ready to say goodbye to things that cause pain or have lost their way. We are ready for a deep metamorphosis.
With death, we ask ourselves: what needs to be changed? What do we have to give up in order to progress? What must die so that we can live more fully?
By connecting with our inner voice, we hear what needs to be released. Whether it’s a toxic person, a stalled job, or a habit we’ve outgrown, we’re ready to let go.
There is always some pain with death. We have to admit that even when we release something that no longer serves us, letting go causes grief.
When you connect with what needs to be changed, honor it by performing a ritual or ritual of release. Write down on paper what you want to release, then give the paper its transformation.
This includes tearing it up and letting it burn, burying it in the ground, or saying the words on the page out loud. Whatever you choose, this ritual will help you honor the dying process.
Our second card, the King of Pentacles, serves as our main card. It reminds us of our core strength and encourages us to use our resources to stay centered.
We sometimes struggle to separate our identity from our experience. However, we are not the chaotic events happening around us; we are experiencing them.
We choose how to ride the waves. We can let the situation take control, or we can consciously steer the course. The King of Pentacles encourages the second approach.
This King embodies patience and understands the importance of time. He knows when to step back and wait to make a decision, especially when anxiety forces him to respond immediately.
Making responsible choices now will lead to greater freedom later. It’s not about immediate gratification or giving in to fear, but about making decisions that will benefit us in the long run.
The King of Pentacles invites us to question: How can you begin to separate your personality from your experience? Can you pause and observe your reactions before acting? Can you make choices based on love rather than fear?
Take the time to set boundaries, practice centering, and cultivate awareness to connect with the King of Pentacles. He will sustain us as we ride the waves this week.
Mantra for the week: I let go of old stories and heavy doubts. I move forward with patience and kindness.
